History

The Visions Lives On

When Don McIntyre started the Advertising Club of Edmonton in 1977, he had a vision. His vision for the club was much more than a social function but one in which learning and education were important in a formal and informal sense.

The membership was to include anyone involved in advertising, marketing, and public relations; anyone from company presidents right down to receptionists. Don wanted our industry to gain integrity while giving back to our community.

Over the years the Ad Club has been involved in Santa's Anonymous, Junior Achievement, telethons and Edmonton Klondike Days just to name a few.

We are one of oldest clubs in Canada with a membership of 300 strong. We encompass members from all facets and levels of our industry including student members from Grant MacEwan, NAIT and the University of Alberta. We support our student members by having on-going scholarships at each institution.

As the industry has changed over the past 30+ years, so has the Club evolved to meet the needs of our members, but the spirit and vision is as alive today as it was in 1977 when the club was formed.
